Achievements
- Allen has built the necessary relationships to secure 6.5 millions in grants from both state and federal officials
- Spent $632,000 in paving over 75 City streets
- Landfill closure $7.4 million ( Funded by State)
- Working with Team Taylor brought 469 jobs to our community both new and existing businesses
- Unemployment rate fell from 7.3% in 2003 to 4.6% in 2006
- Reduced the work force in many departments by reorganization & cross training
- New Skate Park at Miller Park ( Grants and donations)
- Renovated old bowling alley to youth center (now Sport Spot)
- Resurfaced tennis courts (Grants and donations )
- Rework the golf course ( City workforce)
- Built new ladies restrooms at Little League fields
- Paved parking lot at Trace Creek girls fields
- Reworked and tiled the soccer fields ( City workforce)
- Constructed a new concession stand and bath rooms at soccer field ( Local contractor furnished labor and materials & city workforce)
- Maintained city properties by replacing roofs, painting and replacing worn out floors.
( When possible work done by city workforce)
- Provided additional space for police and fire departments
- Installed a new state of the art telemetry system at water treatment plant which enables us to visually review all the system including the water storage tanks.
- Replaced old water and sewer lines plus added -----lines in the county
- Build new 3 pump station to better enable the water department to serve the community
- Upgraded the water treatment plant with new filters and settling basins to provide safer water, installed an automatic flusher in water system to maintain better quality of water.
- Replace 2" galvanized water line with larger lines in the City.
- Installed water line and lift station for Bass Ridge ( $68,000 grant)
- Built a new chemical building to provide better treatment of our water

- Upgraded and reworked the sewer plant
- Upgraded sewer lines in the City
- Remodeled building, office and lab at sewer plant and sewer collection department

- Replaced equipment with new or good used equipment such as police cars, garbage trucks, medic unit, pick up trucks, lawn mowers, bush hogs,
- Moved City Hall to new water department building this move made it possible to combine services and reduce overhead.
- Used PRIDE Grants for “Clean Taylor County”. (More than $150,000. in grant funds)
